Mzuzu Dairy Honoring Commitment Towards Children’s Nutrition
Mzuzu Dairy Ltd has been a member of Scaling Up Nutrition Business Network (SBN) in Malawi since 2019. Through its affiliation to the network, the company made a commitment to contribute to children’s nutrition in the country. As part of their commitment, they have been supporting Mzuzu Crisis Nursery with 10L of yoghurt every Friday. Mzuzu Crisis Nursery is a home of vulnerable children aged between one day to one and half year old.
Mzuzu Dairy noticed that the age group at Mzuzu Crisis Nursery fits into the most critical age at which good nutrition is very essential for growth and development of the children. As a company that processes milk, they understood that several studies have shown that milk is a source of 143 essential nutrients, hence a very important food component to the age group of the vulnerable children at the home. Furthermore, Mr Augustine Harawa who is an official at the Nursery said that due to covid-19, there has been a reduction in their funding, hence it has been increasingly hard for them to consistently stock dairy products for the children.
As part of Corporate Social Responsibility and also their commitment to nutrition made through SBN Malawi membership, Mzuzu Dairy has devoted to support Mzuzu Crisis Nursery with 10L of yoghurt every Friday so that the kids are well nourished and can grow into healthy citizens of the nation.
